Shrubs 5m tall, common in places; bark tan; smooth, with bumps from which the flower clusters emerge. Cauliflorous. Fruit with pedicel and the bitter or resinous taste of the fruit differentiate these plants from the same (?) species around the city of Santa Cruz.
