Locality:
Mexico, Sierra Madre Occidental, along Hwy 40, ca. 1 mile above LA Guayanera and ca. 23 miles NE of Concordia.

Habitat:
Open oak woodland on dry rocky slopes and cut-over broad-leaved forest in a canyon (evidently abandoned guava plantation). Slopes of basalt and tuff.
Notes:
Common shrub on moist slopes and on canyon bottom.
