Eranthemum lanceum Nees in DC. Prodr. 11: 451. 1847. Type collected at Cuello, Department of Tolima, Colombia, by Goudot (Hooker Herbarium, Kew). The specific epithet, lanceum, lauce or spear, alludes to the shape of the leaf blades. Pseuderanthemum lanceum Radik. Sitzungsb. Math. Phys. Kl. Akad. Wiss. München 13 286. 1883. Based on Eranthemum lanceum Nees. Medial leaf blades lanceolate, 7.5 to 9 cm. long, 12.5 to 15 mm. wide, acuminate, gradually narrowed to base and decurrent on the petiole, glabrous above, the costa on the lower surface scabrous, the lower blades a little shorter and wider than the upper; petioles short; flowers borne in short axillary and terminal spikes; bracts, at least the lower, lanceolate or linear; calyx short, glabrous, the segments subulate; corolla 10.5 mm. long, white; capsule 12.5 mm. long.
