Common in the forest. Flowering in the late dry to early rainy seasons (March to May). Fruits mature in the wet season, June to September. Distinguished from other Bactris by occurring in dense clusters, often associated with juvenile plants, and by having petioles usually spiny only at the base and with very dense, short spadices. Pinnae of adult blades are regular and are inserted at the same angle; in juvenile plants the pinnae may be unequally spaced and stagger-angled.
