'Guapuru' Common shrub in woods, this one 5m tall, 10cm diam., with smooth, twisted trunk. Cauliflorous with white powder-puff inflorescence cluster on all stems from gorund level to almost the smallest leafless twigs; all shrubs in full bloom today, very conspicuous, but impossible to preserve the effect when pressed; no open flowers in the preceding week; flowers white, with scarcely any odor. This species produces a much-esteemed edible, dark purple, grape-like fruit, but these are only available for the short period.
