Sandstone conglomerate metamorphic and quartzite rock outcrop with associated and scrubby vegetation with damp flushes, grassland and marsh in some areas. This plant is growing in 'Campo do Queroz' in mata de cigo woodland.

Tree to 3m. Leaves coriaceous dark glossy green above, bright rusty brown beneath. Inflorescence axis and calyces bright rusty brown to grey. Buds only.
